My Story, My Kitchen

Born in the South, living in the West. I don’t sweat the details.

This quote, by one of my favorite writers, very much sums up how I feel: “It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food and security and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it… and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied… and it is all one.” The Art of Eating by MFK Fisher

I absolutely love a jovial kitchen filled with music, laughter, and interesting conversation. Gathering my family and friends around me while I create a delicious meal brings me nothing but joy and comfort. “My people” are always welcome to help me or they can just sit, chat, and enjoy some wine. And, of course, kids and pets are most definitely welcome.

I originally started my blog to keep a record of my old and new favorites, successes and the occasional failures, which at times, became prized recipes. After a long hiatus, I am eagerly returning to join with you in this comforting space I call “Fog City Kitchen”. If you are new to this group, welcome; I can’t wait to meet you. If you are an old friend, welcome back; I have missed you! As friends do, please feel free to drop me a line; I would love to hear your stories and feedback.

Can’t wait to taste some of that MJ California-Southern cuisine after being exiled for 8 months in the land of potatoes, beets and cabbage!!!

Serge, I was planning on making beets and cabbage for us on Sun!!
    Just kidding…thinking more like:
Grilled figs wrapped in prosciutto with blue cheese and balsamic
    Fava bean crostini
    Grilled shrimp and lemon
    wild local argula
    wine
    more wine
    some as yet unknown dessert…
